Apple TV wreaking havoc on your network?

I recently had a problem where my 4th Generation Apple TV was causing other devices on my WiFi network to drop packets. Pulling my hair out and replacing a couple network cables and purchasing a replacement WAP I was finally able to fix the issue by upgrading the TV OS to version 12.1.

The strange thing was that the Apple TV is connected to my network via an Ethernet cable, but was causing issues as far as I could tell only with the WAP. Though I have read online that the issue also manifested itself by causing Apple TV users who only used WiFi to have to reset their routers as it would cause other WiFi devices to completely lock up.

So if you are having strange network issues with your Apple TV, you may want to check to see if there is are any software updates available first before you begin other methods of troubleshooting.
