Samyang 85mm f1.4

Post by hendrb01 »

Samyang is working on an 85mm f1.4 lens for the Canon EF lens mount system, As I have been using the 14mm f2.8 AF quite frequently now I am interested in possibly purchasing this lens for testing/review when it is released to see how it compares to the Canon 85mm f1.8 lens that currently own.

Here is a review of a demo lens at ephotozine.com https://www.ephotozine.com/article/samy ... view-32432

So I did end up purchasing this lens.

My initial impressions after using it is that unless you have a compelling reason to shoot 1.4 at 85mm get the Canon EF 85mm 1.8 for half price.

The Canon lens I feel focuses faster, and produces sharper images with better color reproduction.
