Netflix

Post by hendrb01 »

So they finally have Netflix in Korea!

However I noticed something a bit annoying. It seems that none of the Korean movies have subtitles! They also all seem to be Lotte Cinema releases.

So this does temper the excitement somewhat knowing my idea of getting to watch more Korean movies has been shot to heck. Kind of like more Korean content is available from the US Apple Store. :)

Re: Netflix (Well That didn't last long!)

So I ended up canceling my Netflix account.

One thing over here that will piss me off faster than anything is companies that do not support foreign credit cards. I refuse to support them!

So when I received this email from Netflix, I promptly flagged my account for cancelation.

Dear Brent,
Thank you for being an early member of Netflix – we hope you're enjoying your membership.
We are making some updates to how we process payments in Korea. In order to continue your membership, you will need to provide a new payment method that is different from your current payment method. Only Korean-issued cards are accepted. Please visit Netflix and update your payment method before your next billing date on 6/1/16.

Way to go Netflix! An American company, doesn't take a credit card for an American bank, I wonder what Korean business regulation pushed this!

With Netflix cracking down on using proxy servers overseas to access Netflix servers in the USA (Which due to licensing with the TV and Movie studios I can understand.), and now requiring a Korean issued credit card. Netflix is once again screwing the US Troops, and civilians stationed over here by denying us access.
