Mac OS 11 CGTerm

Post by hendrb01 »

Well, if I had actually participated in the Mac OS public beta program I would have known this ahead of time, but CGTerm 1.8 no longer works on Mac OS X 11 Big Sur! On Execution you are presented with a blank white screen (Though the App is actually functioning normally).

Strangely enough, compiling the 1.7b2 source functions correctly! (I say this is strange because with Catalina the white screen happened after compiling CGTerm 1.7b2, but 1.8 functioned flawlessly!)

The drawback to 1.7b2 is that the keyboard mapping is not correct. If you must use CGTerm 1.8, you will either have to install OS X Catalina on a virtual machine, install Catalina on a separate partition, or delay upgrading to Big Sur.

The instructions for comping the 1.7b2 source are here.

Bluecursor,

Do you plan on upgrading to the release version of Big Sur?

As I did not participate in the beta for Big Sur, I do not have a version to throw on a virtual machine to test.
I would imagine your issue stems from a Library either not being present in the BETA that is in the full release, or one who's version is different and not compatible with what is in the beta.

Scratch that!

I compared the archive for CG-Term 1.8.dmg for < Catalina and the one for Big Sur, what is missing is the SDL.Framework.

I am now thinking that you do not have the SDL library installed on your computer (If you did not have CGTerm or the SDL library installed from a previous version of the OS.) <Which I did, so I would not have caught this.>

Try downloading the attached disk image, copy the SDL.Framework folder to the Frameworks alias, run CGTerm 1.8 again and let me know if this fixes the issue.

Thanks,

.dmg has been replaced with one that contains the SDL framework.
