I am usually pretty good about repacking my main camera bag if take something out of it. Something that carried over from my traveling regatta days.
However this morning I totally screwed the pooch when trying to get out to try a low light photo idea I have had for awhile.
I failed to check my bag before leaving the house, and forgot that I had taken the tripod mount off my 5D MKIV when using the battery grip, and had used it a couple weekends ago while shooting a closed hotel. I had also put my remote shutter release in the 7D bag.
While it is possible to work around the remote release using the built in 2 Second Timer, you just can not do long exposure photography without a tripod. I had a spare base for my Gitzo in the car, but did not have my Gitzo!
Maybe this is serendipity telling me its time to unpack and clean everything anyway.
Screwed the pooch!
Screwed the pooch!
