If you have been following the trials and tribulations going on over at The Rat's Den lately, you would know that I have just been having a terrible time with GOLF solitaire. Fortunately the program ran FLAWLESSLY for the contest, but never worked properly for the monthly reset.
It would just hang when filling the game file...
Sometimes I could get it to work by re-copying all the files, and it would drop below 217, but then hang on another arbitrary number.
Last month I was able to get it to run by forcing it to create and process the files on an FD2000 disk, that I then just copied over to the hard drive.
The only problem was that the same thing happened the following month! Even on the FD200..
So using brute force over ignorance, I decided to put together a quick and dirty test system on VICE (OS X), just to run the GOLF creation program.
I would definitely like to figure out what is causing the issue on real hardware, but at least this way myself and my fellow DENizens can still enjoy a cutthroat game of Solitare.
