Apple OS X Sierra

Well I guess my internal debate on whether to spend the $$$ to fix my 2008 has finally be decided for me, by Apple. The compatibility list for OS X Sierra has been released and the 2008 Mac Pro is conspicuously absent.

Here is the compatibility list from the Apple WWDC Keynote.

MacBook Pro (2010 and later)
MacBook Air (2010 and later)
Mac Mini (2010 and later)
Mac Pro (2010 and later)
MacBook (Late 2009 and later)
iMac (Late 2009 and later)

Considering that the hardware specs of the 2008 Mac Pro are still pretty beefy, I do not understand any technical reason why it would not be supported, unless the next version of OS X requires a newer EFI firmware and it is impossible to provide an OpenFirmware update.

I will concede that the hardware is 8 years old, if Apple is excluding the model from being able to be run because of sales reasons, it is another nail in the Apple ecosystem for me, and I will be staying with Windows for awhile longer.

Your thoughts?
