Fixing Loss of carrier detection after upgrading TCPser & WinVICE
Posted: Sun May 05, 2024 5:39 pm
I ran into an issue where Image BBS! 3.0 no longer detected carrier loss after upgrading to TCPser 1.1.6b and VICE 3.8.
Below are the documented steps to correct this issue, with screenshots.
NOTE: This issue occured runnint the latest version of TCPser on Windows and WinVICE. I have no knowledge if this also happens on systems running on LINUX, or MacOS.
Thanks to Larry Headman (X-TEC) for assistance in fixing this issue.
Fixing detection of loss of carrier after upgrading to VICE 3.8 / TCPser 1.6a
You need to place a checkmark on the left side of Dsr on page 6 of the Litebar.
Press f6 3 times.
Now press f5 4 times until Dsr is highlighted.
Press 5 f7 to place a checkmark on the left side of Dsr
Your screen will look like the picture below.
Now, let’s make this selection the default!
If you have the current IDLE MODs installed you can enter the Image BBS! Configurator by typing Shift I at the Idle Screen. If you do not have the IDLE MODs installed, you must login to your BBS in Local, or Psuedo Local Mode.
Once in the Image BBS Configuration Editor, type H for Lightbar/Alarm.
Type A for LightBar Defs
Type N then Return 3 times until the Page # on the top says Page 4.
If 13 is already checked from the previous step, simply type S then (Return).
If it is not already checked, because you came straight to this step, or you are making the change remotely. Simply Type S then Return to save the defaults.
Now type Q and return.
Type D
Type Q to quit.
Log out, then log in remotely. Purposely disconnect, or quit your terminal to test.
I hope these instructions help, I was putting my hair out for awhile until Larry pointed me in the right direction!
