VLC does not hide notch on M1 Macbook Pro

I have been playing with an M1 Macbook PRO, and was a bit annoyed to not be able to hide the notch using Video LAN Client in full screen mode.
Surprisingly Google was not much help trying to sort this issue out, and the solution is easier than one may think. Apparently VLC's website does not detect if you are using and INTEL or Apple Silicone mac, you MUST select the architecture from the dropdown or it will download the Intel Version by default.
You can verify which architecture is being used by getting info on the VLC.app, and noting the architecture in parenthesis by the application name. If it says (Intel), you have downloaded and installed the wrong version of the .app,
Go back to the VLC website and select the Apple Silicone version.
Once downloaded and installed, the notch will be hidden in fullscreen mode.
