I purchased a 2014 Korean Comedy called Miss Granny (Suspicious Girl) last week on the iTunes Music Store and finally had a chance to sit down and watch it after buying a 4th generation Apple TV. The film is directed by Hwang Gong-hyuk, and stars Na Moon-hee playing Oh Mal-soon who is a canotakourous Korean Ajuma with a mean, stubborn streak. While extremely proud of he her son who she raised by her self agains the odds in 1960's South Korea after her husband died in a mining accident in Germany. She does not fit in with her daughter in law or grandchildren. After the mother in law collapse due to stress it is decided that Grandmother (Heimanie) must go to a nursing home.
On the way to meet her grandchild and band members for chicken soup, Ms Mal-soon spots a portrait studio and she decided to go get her funeral picture taken, feeling that she doesn't have many years left to live once she goes to the nursing home. Upon having her picture taken, she discovers she now appears to be in her 20s! Hilarity ensues as she takes advantage of the opportunity to relive her life as a young woman, and attempts to fulfill the dream she had as a young girl to become a singer.
I really enjoyed the film, and highly recommend anyone looking for a good lighthearted foreign comedy to check out Miss Granny.
