Seoul Spring Flower (Cherry Blossom) Festival
There are 2 seasons I really enjoy in Korea, Fall and Springtime. These are the 2 seasons when the weather is very much reminiscent of San Diego, my hometown. It is neither too hot now too cold and the perfect time to get out and really enjoy everything that Korea has to offer.
Since spring is right around the corner, I thought it would be the perfect time to showcase outdoor activity and festival opportunities that are available as the weather starts to warm up.
No blog about springtime in Korea would be complete without some mention of The Cherry Blossom Festival. In fact the whole purpose of celebrating the blooming of the cherry blossoms is to celebrate the rebirth that is part of spring. All over Korea people come outside and get together to take in the site of the picturesque Cherry Tree and enjoy being able to be outside together.
The most famous Cherry Blossom festival takes place near Busan near Chinhae, though there are celebrations in pretty much every city, such as here on Yeouido in Seoul.
While strolling down the streets lined with the beautiful cherry blossom tree’s, sample all kinds of food prepared by the food vendors.
The festival does not start until about 6pm, but if you arrive early you can rent a bike and explore Yeouido park.
If you enjoy street photography, these festivals are great venues to get pictures of people out just having fun!
The Cherry Blossom Festival this year will be held 01 APRIL 2016 – 10 APRIL 2016
